Quotes

The following are a series of quotes I picked up while listening to TED talks.  These are the ones that registered with me and have made it to my blog.  I think as artists we become consumed by the idea of failure and the idea of just being a hack.  It's important to realize that they are all normal thoughts and that the best way to kill these thoughts is with action, by doing and trusting who u are.

If you're not prepared to be wrong you'll never come up with anything original.

Fake it till u become it.

People don't buy what u do they buy why u do it.

Have the courage to be imperfect.

Have compassion to be kind to yourself first and then to others.

Have a connection as a result of authenticity - be willing to let go of who you think u should be in order to be who u are.

Fully embrace vulnerability be willing to invest in something.  Say i love u without guarantees.  Vulnerability is the birth place of joy, love, creativity of belonging.  We are worthy of love and belonging -were not perfect but... I believe I'm enough.

NHL Super Card 2K

Purchase NHL Super Card 2K

I recently finished up a project with Wahoo Studios.  Working with 6 separate card animations and choreographing a camera into what had to be 70 different short but readable animations was challenging.  And then making sure the engine played it correctly - with all the bells and whistles of fx and audio triggers was something new. I really had a great time with the crew there and enjoyed working on NHL Super Card 2K.  Thanks to everyone at Wahoo and Cat Daddy Games.

Andreas Deja - The Nine Old Men

Purchase The Nine Old Men

Andreas Deja recently put out his book titled "The Nine Old Men".  I just received mine and am really having a great time reading it.  The insight on acting and choices made by these giants accompanied with spectacular examples of their work is inspiring and very humbling.  Really beautifully done.

Infinity 3.0

Just posting some character posing and rendering work I helped out on with Infinity 3.0 Campaign.  I worked with ichi Worldwide for this project.  BTW, their a great group and had a great experience working with them.  Main work was mostly done in zBrush and Maya.  Some of the characters were brought into Keylight for texturing, lighting and final rendering.

RedBull Entry - "Art Of The Can" 2015

Here's a recent project I helped co-direct, rig and animate.  All animation includes: intro cuts with mechanical pieces, the Bull and the end can animation.  It's for "Redbull Art of The Can" Media Entry.  It was a quick project done between work and at night.  My buddy/co-director Eli Guerron was also responsible for all VFX, Lighting, and Comping.  He killed it(as he always does) with some really beautiful frames throughout the piece.  This project was a blast for me because of the work Eli was doing with the FX and lighting.  I felt that the animation had to hold up to what he was doing on his side - so great synergy.  Please tell me what you think and thanks for visiting!

Just finished retopoing my model in Topogun.  Somewhat cathartic 3D puzzle - really great learning how everything relates to its own zone and such.

Awesome Camera Rig - Josh Cam

Really nice camera rig created by Josh Janousky.  These rigs are great because they force you to think in real world moves creating a more realistic camera move.  So you start to think about your Dolly(not your cute cabbage patch posted up on your bed - I just aged myself there) but your push in on Tz for example.  Along with Dolly we have Track the Tx, side to side movement if you will.  Can't forget Pan, the rY, rotational move and the good ol' Tilt rX rotational movement.

This rig is great because you can operate it on a crane, take it to handheld steady-cam and it even comes rigged with an attached curve path that allows for some interesting ideas for camera track shots.  It also has a built in camera aim and shake to push handheld.  Although, with shake what I usually do once my camera is locked, I bake it out and then bring that camera into RS CAM for adding shake.  It seems to be a little refined in its shake and it also has some nice presets built into it as well.  Link:  http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/script/rscameraui

Woot - I've finished my first zBrush sculpt Le Femme Fatale!!!

So, let me preface this by saying that I have had zBrush now for 3 years - and done some pretty crappy modeling up until now.  Drum roll please...my first finished sculpt!  I'm really pleased with how this finished up.  I'm going to use her in my facial rigging course.  I purchased a great set of tutorials from character artist Matt Thorup on Gumroad.com.  His technique really gave me the some great tips and got me to finish this piece.  Thanks Mr. Red Beard!!!  Now on to rigging!
