Paraphrasing here and putting into an animator's lexicon. Time well spent is spent on story. Don't be afraid to kill your babies - "by killing you will make something better live". Abandon crap and be ruthless. Have the idea that you need to enforce every storytelling part of your shot by clearly executing your beats/phrases. Don't let failure paralyze your work. But allow yourself to create enough work by having a schedule of what gets done no matter what and through this you will create that 1 piece that excites you and makes those previous shots worth the time. Know that before the special shots come there will be a lot of crap to sift through - a lot of trying stuff out if you will. You didn't become an animator that wants to create mediocre stuff - you want to create something memorable, something special
